Our PhD student Lorenzo, has received a grant from the OneHealthdrugs COST ACTION - CA21111that will support his PhD mobility period at the Fraunhofer-ITMP located in Hamburg, Germany.
Starting on the 13th of January 2025, under supervision of Dr. Sheraz Gul, he will test several compounds designed and synthetized in our laboratory, exploiting innovative and rapid systems of in vitro screening to assess both their potential biological activity and their ADME-Toxicity profile.
Well done! Wish you the best for this experience, Lorenzo!

On December 6, 2024, our research group proudly participated at Innovative Research in Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences (IRPES 2024), held in the city of Pisa and focused on Bioactive Substances and Pharmaceutical process optimization.
Our new research fellow, Fabio, presented his very first poster, "Design, synthesis and docking study of novel series of thyromimetics for the treatment of MASLD", that summarized his cutting-edge research with clarity and depth. In addition, his engaging flash presentation captured the essence of his work in just a few minutes, drawing attention from numerous attendees and fostering fruitful discussions during the poster session.
Lorenzo played a pivotal role in moderating a talk by our esteemed collaborator, Dr. Sheraz Gul, whose lecture on "Drug discovery from a Fraunhofer Institute Perspective" was one of the highlights of the day. As a moderator, Lorenzo ensured the session flowed seamlessly, facilitating insightful questions and engaging dialogue among the audience.
Italo delivered a compelling oral presentation, diving deep into protein-protein interactions (PPI) topic. His talk, titled "Targeting Protein-Protein Interactions with novel small molecules: Phenotypical and Rational approaches for cancer therapy", sparked a lively discussion, highlighting the growing interest in our research focus.
We were delighted to include several of our talented Master’s students, Paola Longombardo, Jessica Gjoka, Francesca Dinatale, Jody Mori and Jessica Musetti, in this experience. Their presence at the conference not only enriched their academic perspective but also exemplified the group’s commitment to fostering the next generation of researchers.
